A little about me…

Hello, I’m Gemma Jay, an award-winning Independent Celebrant with over 15 years’ experience in the wedding and events industry.

Since 2009, I’ve worked both as a freelance planner and as a wedding and event coordinator within hotels and venues across the North East. Over the years, I’ve been privileged to be part of hundreds of weddings, gaining invaluable behind-the-scenes knowledge and a deep understanding of how truly meaningful ceremonies are created.

I’m completely obsessed with weddings, but not the cookie-cutter kind. I believe your ceremony should tell your love story and reflect who you are as a couple, not just tick boxes. Personalisation is at the heart of everything I do, and I love creating ceremonies that feel natural, relaxed, and unmistakably you.

With a degree in Performing Arts, I also specialise in themed weddings and cosplay ceremonies, and I’m always happy to explore creative ideas, from Star Wars and fantasy, to Pagan, Viking, gothic, or completely one-of-a-kind concepts. If you can imagine it, we can probably create it.

As an Independent Celebrant working primarily across the North East, I create unique and memorable ceremonies for couples and families of all backgrounds. Whether your ceremony is religious or non-religious, interfaith, spiritual, quirky, alternative, outdoors, intimate or full-scale theatrica, the choice is entirely yours.

I’ll work closely with you every step of the way to design a ceremony that reflects your lives, your values, and your love for one another. Together, we’ll create something meaningful, heartfelt, and memorable, a ceremony that feels right in the moment and becomes a cherished memory for years to come.
